Świebodzin gained its fame thanks to the statue of Christ the King. Thanks to this sculpture, he surpassed the former Brazilian capital of Rio De Janeiro, in which there is a reminiscent of the statue of Christ the Redeemer, 6 meters lower. Until recently, Świebodziński Christ was the tallest monument in the world. In 2011, he was surpassed by a figure of the Pacific Christ of Peru, measuring 37 meters. Christ of Świebodzin has a height of 36 m, of which 3 m has a gilded crown crowning the monument. It stands on a 16.5 m high, artificially built mound. The weight of this giant is estimated at about 440 tons. The originator of this magnificent building on a global scale, which has become a showcase of the city, is the parish priest - the sanctuary of the Divine Mercy in Świebodzin - prelate Sylwester Zawadzki.
