The date of establishment of the brewery is considered to be 1848, when Ernst Ferdinand Handke leased the tavern and brewhouse from the Feuerherm family. In 1856, Handke bought the inn and began to expand the brewhouse. After the reconstruction of the plant in the second half of the nineteenth century, the Witnica company became one of the most modern small breweries in the northern part of Germany. It operated under the name Stern Brau. After World War II, the brewery was nationalized by the Polish state. From 1948 he belonged to the Brewing Plant in Szczecin, then from 1949 to the Gorzów Brewery and Sweet Plant. In 1956, it was taken over again by the breweries in Szczecin, and from 1965 to be part of the brewing plant in Zielona Góra. From 1988, the brewery in Witnica belonged to the Agricultural Combine in Lubniewice. In 1991, the brewery became independent as the Brewery in Witnica. After privatization in 1992, the brewery was transformed into an employee company Zakłady Piwowarskie Witnica Sp. z o.o. In 1995, the character of the company was changed and the joint-stock company Browar Witnica S.A. was created. In 2000, the company name was changed to Boss Browar Witnica S.A. In 2007, Boss Browar Witnica was in financial trouble. However, the brewery did not stop production and made efforts to survive the crisis. Since January 2009, the plant has found a strategic investor, with the help of which it began distributing its beer brands throughout Poland.
