Tło Lubuskie

This is an unusual, picturesque area where you can see, among others two lakes - Łagowskie and Trześniowskie, which are connected by a narrow isthmus and an observation tower, which in the past served as defensive functions. Of course, you cannot forget about the Castle in Łagów, which is one of the few remaining entities of the Sovereign Knight's Order of Hospitallers Saint John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta in Poland. In the fourteenth century, the Maltese bachelors received Łagów on their own. Then they built a gothic stronghold here - the seat of the commandery. At the time of Hospitallers, this castle was surrounded by walls 9 meters high which survived up to 700 years. The powerful defensive tower and entrance gate covers, as well as the watchtower, were supposed to protect access to the castle. Two semicircular bastions were built in response to the invention of firearms. The castle tower was then raised to 35 meters. In the castle courtyard there was a chapel and refectory as well as a residential wing. Today, the castle interiors are hotel rooms, so tourists can spend the night here. As for the individual internal rooms of this building, the Gothic room and the baroque fireplace room are admirable. As for Łagów, one should also mention Sokola Góra located west of Lake Trześniowskie. Today, Łagów is a wonderful town with a preserved arrangement of ancient streets, where the entrance and exit are gates - Brick Gate Poland from the 15th century and the older March Gate. The neoclassical church of St. John the Baptist from 1726. There is a nice park on the aforementioned Trześniowskie lake, reaching up to 60 m in depth and creating great diving conditions thanks to the clean, transparent water. The said castle tower is a brilliant vantage point, we will see here the whole vast surroundings in a beautiful scenery.
